Sourav Ganguly Picked India’s Two Best Keeper-Batsmen

Sourav Ganguly Picked India’s Two Best Keeper-Batsmen: Ever since the former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, took retirement from the international level, his replacement in team India has become one of the most talked-about topics in the Indian cricket fraternity. Dhoni is regarded as one of the greatest keeper-batsman to have ever played the game.

Dhoni’s retirement made it tough for the selectors, who are now facing the upheaval task of finding the right replacement for team India’s most decorated keeper of all times.

Following Dhoni’s exit, selectors tried out Rishabh Pant as keeper-batsman across all the three formats. However, within a year, Rishabh Pant lost his place in the playing XI because of his inconsistent performances. Later on, KL Rahul did a decent job behind the stumps.

KL Rahul is now the designated keeper in the limited format of the game, while Sanju Samson has been appointed as the backup. In the longest format of the game, Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant have been picked up by the team-management on the basis of the conditions. It will be interesting to see, who among them will emerge out to be the most successful.

BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly recently talked about the matter as well. Dada named Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha as two best keeper-batsmen in the country. He also went on to defend Rishabh Pant for his poor performances in last year’s IPL where he looked a pale shadow of his usual self. He said:

“He (Pant) and Wriddhiman Saha are our two best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the country,”

“Don’t worry. His bat swing will come back. He is a young guy and all of us need to guide him. He’s got tremendous talent. Rishabh will be fine,”

He was also asked who should keep the wickets in Australia, responding to which, Ganguly cleared that the player with better form will be preferred. He said:

“Only one can play, so whoever is in best form will play,”
