Sourav Ganguly’s Brother Slammed Wriddhiman Saha: Sourav Ganguly’s elder brother, Snehasis Ganguly, who is also the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), is unhappy with Wriddhiman Saha’s action of revealing the private conversation he had with the BCCI President to the media.

Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the national Test side for the upcoming Sri Lanka Test series. Hours later, he revealed that Ganguly had a few months back told him that he will be backed as long as he is the BCCI president. However, Saha was left shocked that he was left out of the squad in spite of Ganguly himself giving him assurance.

“When the selectors and the coach say they have been thinking about this for a while, it is not an isolated call. It means other officials – president, vice-president, etc – are in the loop too,” Saha told ESPNcricinfo.
“The biggest shock was that when I scored 61 against New Zealand in Kanpur despite being injured, Dadi [Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president] texted to congratulate me and said I didn’t need to worry about anything till he is there. Naturally, I was shocked at what I was told immediately one series after.”

Reacting to this controversy, Snehasis, opined that Saha should have kept this personal conversation with the BCCI president to himself and not disclose it to the media.

“This is my personal opinion, but what was communicated to him (Saha) by the chief selector or BCCI was private. He probably shouldn’t have gone public with that,” Snehasis was as quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Snehasis said that Saha should have played in the Ranji Trophy. Saha had opted out of the Ranji Trophy on personal grounds.

“Also, he could have played the Ranji Trophy. He cited personal reasons for pulling out and we have to respect that. The door is always open for him, whenever he wants to join the squad,” he added.

Saha also revealed a conversation he had had with, Chetan Sharma, the chairman of selectors who cleared that Saha won’t be considered for selection even in the future.

“He asked me if I was playing Ranji Trophy. I said I hadn’t decided yet. Then he went on to tell me what Rahul bhai had said. So I asked him if this decision was for just this series or for the upcoming series against Australia and England too. Then he paused for a couple of seconds and said, ‘From now on, you will not be considered,’ Saha further said.
