Sreesanth Names India’s X-Factors For South Africa Tour: India’s initial international tour after the 2023 World Cup is the upcoming series in South Africa. The tour kicks off with a three-match T20I series, followed by an ODI series of the same length, and concludes with a two-match Test series. While much attention is on the T20I series as part of the preparation for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies next year, fans are also eagerly anticipating the Test matches. These Tests mark India’s return to the longest format since their two-match series in the West Indies in July earlier this year.

Over the years, India has found South Africa to be a challenging opponent in Test cricket, especially when playing away from home. Despite successful outings against Australia and securing a Test series draw in England over the past six years, India has struggled against South Africa during this period. In 2018, they lost a closely contested three-match series 2-1, and a similar fate awaited them in the 2021/22 three-match series, which marked Virat Kohli’s final series as India’s Test captain.

In a conversation with Firstpost, Sreesanth expressed his belief that Virat Kohli enjoys continually proving himself, even more than anyone else, and is determined to excel in the Rainbow Nation.

“I think this is the best opportunity. Since the time South Africa came back into the international scene, this time we do have a great opportunity and a great chance to win a series there which is like a dream come true,” Sreesanth is quoted as saying by Firstpost.

Former captain Kohli will only participate in the Test matches, opting out of the T20Is and ODIs, similar to Rohit Sharma.

Sreesanth added: “Virat Kohli. Virat loves to keep proving, rather than to anybody but to himself. I think he’s that cricketer who actually plays with that pride and he takes that pride in a very good way, not in an egoistic way. So pride for me, and for Virat also I’m sure it’s like personal responsibility in delivering excellence. So, I will go with Virat and KL Rahul.”
