Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday, April 18, became the fourth batter in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to complete 6000 runs. Rohit achieved this feat in the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma Completed 6000 IPL Runs

Rohit is an integral player in the Mumbai-based franchise. He has led the side to victory in the tournament record-5 times, which is the most by any team. Though he has been amazing with his leadership, but he was struggling to score runs for the last few years. In fact, he recently bounced back to form when he registered a half-century in the ongoing tournament.

After completing the 6000 runs, Rohit Sharma has joined an elite list of batters consisting of star batters like Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Virat Kohli, Delhi Capitals’ (DC) David Warner, and Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Shikhar Dhawan.

Before coming into this game, Rohit needed 14 runs to achieve the milestone and he achieved it after Mumbai was asked to bat first in the game. It has to be noted that Rohit is the slowest batter to get to the feat as he completed 6000 runs in his 227th IPL innings.

Most runs in IPL history:
Kohli – 6844
Dhawan – 6477
Warner – 6109
Rohit – 6000*
Raina – 5528

Coming out to open the innings with Ishan Kishan, Rohit started his knock with a single, after which he smashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a four through the covers. He then hit Washington Sundar for a four. He completed the 6000 runs in IPL with a pull shot for a four off Sundar. In the very next ball, he smashed a stunning six to collect a hat-trick of fours in the third over of MI’s innings.

However, Rohit failed to convert his innings into big numbers and was dismissed after scoring 28 runs off 18 balls.

Meanwhile, as Rohit achieved this new feat in the IPL, fans on social media celebrated the same with amazing tweets and memes.
