STAT-ATTACK: Most Number of Balls Faced in Test Cricket

Test cricket is all about patience. Over the years, we have seen many great batsmen working hard and battling it out in the middle to score their runs.

In this article, we have prepared the list of top 5 batsmen who have faced the most number of deliveries in Test cricket.

As we can see India’s legendary batsman and one of the most technically correct batsmen this world has ever seen, Rahul Dravid is at the top of the list. In a career spanning over 16 years, Rahul Dravid faced 31,258 balls in Test cricket. Dravid, who was known for his solid technique and temperament, had the ability to grind the bowlers and absorb all the pressure. Dravid, for his solid technique and skills to defend his wicket on any surface, is also known as “The Wall”. 

Another legendary Indian batsman and argubablly the greatest cricketer ever, Sachin Tendulkar is No.2 in this list. In his long career, that spanned around 24 years, Sachin Tendulkar played played 200 Tests 29,437 balls.

Third on this list is Jacques Kallis. Jacques Kallis played 166 Tests and played 28,093 balls. Kallis is arguably the best all-rounder to have ever played the game.  Kallis is also one of the best batsmen in the history of cricket.

Australian legend Allan Border is fourth is the list of most balls faced by a batsman in Test cricket. Border played 156 Tests and faced 27,002 balls.

West Indies’ Shivnarine Chanderpaul is number five in this list. Chanderpaul is one of the most underrated batsmen. His achievements and records are extraordinary, but his name is never taken in the list of great batsmen. Chanderpaul has a very unorthodox technique and he is not a very elegant looking batsman, but he is very effective.
