Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith and his wife Dani Willis has suffered a huge heartbreak, ahead of the much-awaited Boxing-day test match. Smith and his wife will have to wait longer to reunite with his wife because of the Coronavirus norms laid out by Cricket Australia.
Steve Smith has been away from his home, his family since the end of August now when he traveled with the Australian cricket to England to take part in three T20Is and ODIs in September; however, he couldn’t take part in the 50-over games because of the concussion. The England tour was followed by IPL 2020 as he led the team Rajasthan Royals during the tournament. After the conclusion of IPL 2020, Steve Smith returned back to Australia to take part in the ongoing bilateral series against India.
Considering that it has been a long time since he met his family, Steve Smith was waiting desperately for the reunion with his wife before COVID-19 ruined their plans. A few days back, Smith took to his social media and had expressed his excitement over the fact that he was just seven days away from seeing his wife for the first time and is now looking forward to spending Christmas with her. He wrote:
“114 days down and only 7 to go! It’s been a long 4 1/2 months away from my wife … but I can’t wait for her to join me in Melbourne next week just in time for Christmas!”

Cricket Australia had allowed partners to join players in the bio-bubble after a three-day quarantine. However, the rule was recently changed by the cricket board after the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases. And as a result, Steve Smith and Willis will have to wait even longer to reunite. Though Willis had managed to land in Melbourne from Sydney but because of the new rules, the couple will have to wait.
