As the ongoing 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy, a lot of eyes looked up to Australian batsman Steve Smith, who is currently regarded as one of the best test batsmen. However, the cricketer was having a rough time on the field.

In fact, after the first two test matches, Steve Smith’s poor form had become the talk of the town. Even he had earlier admitted that he was struggling against R Ashwin and was looking to put him. Ashwin has already claimed twice in the ongoing series. Unlike the first two Tests, steve Smith looked more confident early on, smashing boundaries right from the start.

Steve Smith made a solid comeback as he regained his form with flying colors. Steve Smith roared back to form with an outstanding century against India. It was a much-awaited ton off Smith’s bat as it was his first Test century in 17 months and 15 innings, as the classy batsman finally brought his drought to end. Smith scored his gutsy century in 201 balls as he smashed 13 fours.

Later, after the match, during the virtual press conference, Steve Smith expressed his thoughts on making a solid comeback. Smith claimed that his performance was the perfect way to shut people up. He said:

“I’m reading lots of things people say about out of form, but think there’s a difference between out of form and out of runs so it was just nice to score a few and maybe keep a few people quiet,”

Meanwhile, riding on the powerful knock of Smith, the Australians put up a formidable score of 338 on the board. At the end of day 2. India is trailing by 242 runs.
