Stuart Broad, England’s fast bowler had been fined 15 percent of match fee for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the first Test match against Pakistan, which took place in Manchester. Surprisingly, the fine was imposed by his own father Chris Broad, who was the ICC match referee after Stuart was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the code of conduct.
Stuart Broad Gave A Hilarious Reply His To Father After He Fined Him
Well, Stuart Broad apparently didn’t use the best of words after dismissing Pakistani leg spinner Yasir Shah in the second innings of the match, hours before England completed a three-wicket win.
Broad admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Chris Broad.
“Broad was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match,” the ICC said in a statement.
Normally Chris Broad wouldn’t be officiating in a match involving his son, however, in a bid to cope with the travel restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic, Chris Broad is officiating the ongoing three-match series.
This has been the first time when a cricketer has been fined by his own father. Later, reacting to the news on social media, Stuart Broad joked on Twitter that his father fined him. He wrote:
“He’s off the Christmas card & present list”
