After the verbal banter between James Anderson and Jasprit Bumrah at the end of Day 3, a new war of words caught everyone’s attention today. The verbal banter between the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and England’s star bowler James Anderson was caught on stump mic at Lord’s on Day 4 at Lord’s in London.

For the unversed, at the end of Day 3, Anderson had to face a number of bouncers at his body and it was clear that he was rattled with it. Bumrah’s first ball itself hit him on his head and he had to undergo a concussion test. When the game resumed after the test, Bumrah didn’t stop and continued to deliver the bouncers at Anderson’s body.

Though the plan was to bounce James out but it didn’t go as planned by Bumrah. After the match, when Bumrah went past him, he smiled while looking at the batsman and also patted on Anderson’s back. However, Anderson had some nasty things to say to Bumrah.

Now coming back to today’s episode, Virat Kohli and Anderson’s verbal spat was caught on the stump mic. While Anderson was walking back towards his bowling mark, Kohli was heard saying:

“You are swearing at me? Like you did to Bumrah?. This isn’t your backyard”

Anderson must have said something more which was inaudible and Kohli was heard saying: “Yeah yeah yeah, Chirp chirp chirp”.

The video of the incident has been making rounds on the internet. Here, watch the video:

Meanwhile, the video also caught the attention of England cricketer Stuart Broad, who was ruled out of the ongoing game because of an injury. Seems like Virat’s words didn’t go down well with Stuart Broad, who slammed Virat Kohli on Twitter.

In his tweet, he stated that Kohli’s attitude can get him in trouble. Yes, you read that right. He wrote:

“The Lord’s honours board suggests it’s as close to Jimmy’s backyard as Jimmy’s actual backyard. Love the fire but that language will have him in trouble”
