Stuart Broad’s Latest Tweet On Jonny Bairstow’s Runout Has Gone Viral: For the first time since 2001, Australia won back-to-back Tests in an away Ashes series in England and now have taken a 2-0 lead in the Ashes 2023 series with three Tests to go.

Both these wins, first at Edgbaston and now at Lord’s, have come on the last days of the Test matches and by close margins – by 2 wickets in the first Test followed by 43 runs in the second Test, and both times England had chances to win the game but they couldn’t grasp their opportunities.

The Lord’s Test saw plenty of headlining topics- Steve Smith’s terrific century, Mitchell Starc’s controversial catch, Ben Stokes‘ thunderous hundred, and Jonny Bairstow‘s controversial run-out by Alex Carey. No topic has hogged as much limelight as Bairstow’s runout by Carey in the past 24 hours and the Spirit of Cricket debate is ignited once again.

Alex Carey showed his presence of mind, and Bairstow the lack of his, by underarming a direct hit run-out (which is now being stamped as a stumping off a pacer, Cameron Green) as Bairstow walked outside his crease even when the ball wasn’t dead. England players and fans have admitted that what Carey did was in the laws of the game, since the ball wasn’t declared dead yet, but they say that it was against the Spirit of the game as Bairstow wasn’t looking to take a run and Bairstow had considered that the over was finished.

England captain Ben Stokes and Head coach Brendon McCullum have openly criticised Carey’s actions.

Stuart Broad writes a tweet after Lord’s loss and Bairstow’s runout

England pacer Stuart Broad was the first one on the field to show his feelings about Carey’s action. When he came in to bat, Stuart Broad had chastised Carey saying, “That’s all you’ll ever be remembered for.” These words of Stuart Broad were heard on the stump camera and he’s being bashed all over the place on social media.

A day after the Lord’s defeat, Stuart Broad took to Twitter to write about the loss. Surprisingly, the veteran England seamer, who has a reputation of being cheeky and straight-forward in his tweets about his beliefs, wrote quite a mature tweet. Broad accepted that Bairstow’s run-out was controversial, but admitted it’s all part of the sport.

Stuart Broad tweeted: “A great Ashes battle. Loved being out there with @benstokes38 in that mood. Some controversial moments that will split opinions, that’s sport. Lord’s as loud & animated as I’ve ever heard it. On to Leeds we go!”

Fans were happy to see Broad showing some sense and maturity in his tweet about the Bairstow runout.
