India’s star opener KL Rahul impressed one and all with his gutsy performance at the Mecca of Cricket, on the opening day of the first test match against England. With both Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal injured, KL Rahul got another opportunity to open the innings for the Indian cricket team and he grabbed it with both hands.

KL Rahul played one of the most special innings of his life as he notched up his sixth Test ton and that too at the iconic Lord’s stadium. Not just this, he also put India in the driver’s seat with his gutsy knock.

Earlier, as the game started, the Indian cricket team was asked to bat first. Openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma walked out to open the innings for the Indian side and both the cricketers were able to provide a terrific start to the Indian innings. The duo troubled the England bowlers throughout the afternoon.

KL Rahul played the crucial role of an anchor with 10 runs, as Rohit Sharma smashed the England bowlers to all the corners of the ground. Rahul was batting on 33 (118) when Rohit Sharma was dismissed, however, soon after his dismissal Rahul took all the responsibility on his shoulder to ensure to take the Indian team to a bigger total.

It was his second hundred against England in Tests, which came off in 212 ball as India reached 245 for 2 at the time of publishing this article. And by the time he reached his century, he had hit 9 boundaries and 1 sixes.

Meanwhile, people on social media went berserk after the heroics of KL Rahul and came up with amazing reactions hailing the brilliance of the Indian opener. From cricketers, celebrities to fans, everyone took to their twitter to appreciate the batting skills of KL Rahul.

However, one of the most special tweets came from Bollywood superstar Suniel Shetty, who is also the father of Athiya Shetty, the rumored girlfriend of Rahul. He wrote:

“100 at the Mecca of cricket! Well played baba”
