CSK’s team management had also experimented by excluding their superstar batsman Raina from their playing xi against Punjab Kings. However, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar feels Raina should feature in the playing XI of CSK against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1.

Sharing his views about Qualifier 1 between Delhi and Chennai in his column, Gavaskar hailed Raina as a match-winner and said:

“Speaking of experience, Chennai will give considerable thought to bringing back Suresh Raina for the playoffs. Raina is a match-winner. Of course, in the last few years, he has struggled, especially against the fast bowlers, but he has the ability to change the course of the match”

Suresh Raina has been like a backbone for Chennai Super Kings. Over the years, he has given many amazing and memorable performances. However, the cricketer is currently struggling with the form in the UAE leg.

But earlier during the Indian leg, he had made an impressive return to IPL cricket by smashing a quick-fire half-century against Delhi Capitals earlier this season. Gavaskar feels CSK should give Raina a chance. He said:

“Of course, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, and Avesh Khan will test him, but it’s okay to take this chance as if it gives Chennai the chance to make it to the final,”
