Sunil Gavaskar is one of our favourite commentators ever. His knowledge of the game and given how great a player he was, you so want to listen to his expert comments. He’s a heavily respected member of the cricket fraternity. But he might end up in trouble for a certain distasteful remake on Jaydev Unadkat during the first T20I in South Africa.
Just in case you didn’t know, Jaydev Unadkat was the most expensive Indian player in the IPL auctions which recently concluded. Gavaskar during the match said that Jaydev Unadkat didn’t deserve that price and perhaps he used that money to get a place in the playing XI. Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said during the live commentary of the match.
“As far as Jaydev Unadkat is concerned, I think he was just bought for so much money. Maybe he might have splashed that money to make sure that he played in the final XI,”
He then tried to cover up
“I am joking of course. He has such a good record in the IPL last year. He bowled exceptionally well when he was playing for the Pune team and clearly they wanted a left-hander in their ranks as well. He has got a good yorker. He bowls at a good pace – 140kmph. And the slower delivery that he has developed is also pretty deceptive,”
