Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who was a part of the commentary panel last night during the IPL match between KXIP and RCB, stirred a controversy after he was heard making a remark on Anushka Sharma after Virat failed to showcase his batting abilities in the display.
During the match, Sunil Gavaskar talked about Virat’s performance, he had said: “Aur jo lockdown tha, sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practise ki unhone”, (he has only faced Anushka’s bowling in lockdown)”
Meanwhile, the comment didn’t go down well with the netizens who started slamming the former cricketer left, right, and center. Soon, actress and wife of Virat Kohli also took to her social media and slammed Mr. Gavaskar for unnecessarily dragging her name in this.
In a long post, Anushka Sharma had called out Sunil Gavaskar for passing inappropriate comments about her. She slammed him for making personal remarks about her and Virat Kohli.
Anushka also added that even in 2020, she is being ‘dragged’ into cricket with “sweeping statements” passed over her for the performance of her husband. She concluded the post by saying that Sunil Gavaskar is a legendary cricketer, however, her post is a piece of mind from when she heard his comment on her.

RCB wins: *not a single person in Anushka’s mentions*

RCB loses: Let me make Anushka memes or crack jokes on her since it will make me look cool

Now, finally, Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to the controversy. In an interview with India Today, Sunil Gavaskar clarified his stance on the matter and has cleared that he never blamed the actress for Virat’s failure.
He cleared the air that he was only talking about the viral video of Virushka where Anushka can be seen bowling to Virat. He said:
“Where am I blaming her? Where am I being sexist in this? I am just stating what was seen in the video which was maybe recorded by somebody in the neighboring buildings and then put up. Virat also had no practice and the only practice that they had was when they were seen them playing in their building compound and Anushka was bowling to him. That’s what I said.”
He added:
“Where am I blaming her for Virat’s failures? I am only saying that the video said that she was bowling to Virat,”
