Sunil Gavaskar Slammed Rohit Sharma For Throwing Away His Wicket On Day 2

Sunil Gavaskar Slammed Rohit Sharma For Throwing Away His Wicket On Day 2: In the absence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who is regarded as a modern batting legend, Indian opener Rohit Sharma was expected to play a crucial role with the bat. However, the Indian opener has left everyone disappointed after throwing away his wicket after a good start yet again.

Rohit Sharma looked all set to score a big number on Day 2 of the 4th Test between India and Australia in Brisbane, but only 6 runs away from his half-century, Rohit threw away his wicket.

Sharma alongwith Pujara tried to steer India away from trouble after the early wicket of Shubma Gill. However, Rohit has thrown away a dominant start yet again.  Rohit looked all set for a big inning as he patiently played out the fast bowlers and smashed the bad deliveries, however, he was trapped by Lyon and was dismissed after scoring 44 runs.

Batting legend and former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar lashed out on Rohit Sharma for giving away his wicket with the poor selection of shot. Gavaskar termed the shot as an ‘unbelievable shot’ and also added that there were two fielders in the deep-long on and deep square leg.

Furthermore, Gavaskar also termed the shot as unnecessary and said that Rohit had just gifted away his wicket. Gavaskar, who was on-air with the Channel 7 when Rohit was dismissed, expressed his frustration, by saying:

“Why?Why?Why? That’s an unbelievable shot. That’s an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at deep square leg. You’ve just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier, why would you play that shot? You’re a senior player, there’s no excuse, absolutely no excuse for that shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket, gifted away. Totally unnecessary,”

In the last three innings, Rohit Sharma has had scores of 26, 52 and 44, as he continues to remain far from producing the scores that match his reputation
