Sunil Gavaskar Slams Indian Bowlers For Silly Mistakes

India’s loss in the fourth ODI can be credited to poor bowling performances. After the match was cut short to 28 overs and the target was revised to 202, the Indian bowlers especially the young spin duo gave away too many runs.

Turning point of the game

The turning point of the game was Miller staying despite being bowled. Yes, Chahal had overstepped at that very occasion and that is what turned out to be the greatest turning point. Miller who got away with it took it away from India.

For this silly mistake Chahal made, Sunil Gavaskar slammed the young spinner. Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said“For me, it was that no-ball, where David Miller was clean, bowled and the way he recovered from it. That, for me, was the turning point. Till then, India seemed to be in control, they had also seen the back of AB de Villiers, who was batting well.

When Miller was struggling to read Yuzvendra Chahal, India were certainly in the driver’s seat,” Even Sunil Gavaskar feels that the particular episode where in Miller was bowled on a no ball was the turning point.

Sunil Gavaskar further added

“I will be perfectly honest. In modern-day cricket, with all the technology available, nobody should be bowling no-balls. One can understand bowling a wide, down the leg side because that is a very strict interpretation. There should ideally bowl no wides on the offside also,”

“Fast bowlers can sometimes overstep. However, because it’s 50-over cricket because there is a free hit after the no-ball, I don’t think fast-bowlers should also be bowling no-balls.”
Sunil Gavaskar further talked about the series.

India is now leading the series 3-1 but after a loss in the 4th ODI, it seems that perhaps Indians got too complacent. Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said about the series after India lost the 4th ODI.

“They, after all, use a lot of tapes to measure from here to there and then how does a no-ball come through. So clearly, I think there’s little bit of lack of professionalism there. Maybe a little bit of relaxation after the 3-0 situation and the South Africans took full advantage of it. They batted brilliantly after that, Miller batted brilliantly, Klaassen was outstanding, Phehlukwayo came in and smashed it.”
