Lakmal picked up LK Rahul on the very first ball of the match as the ball kissed Rahul’s bat and went to the keeper. Then later he also got rid of Dhawan and then the all important wicket of the Indian Skipper.

He balled 43 balls without conceding even a single run and ended up with 4 wickets to his name by the end of the first innings.

His mother is amply proud of her son’s performance and is delighted. As per a column in the Kashmir Times, Lakmal’s mother, S.H Chadralatha expressed great pride and happiness in Lakmal’s remarkable performance in the first test.

She further stated that she loved how Lakmal dismissed Virat Kohli and that the dismissal of Kohli was much better than the dismissal of KL Rahul.

She added that even though Rahul is a dangerous batsman but Kohli’s record against Sri Lanka has been phenomenal and hence his wicket meant so much to her. Taking about Lakmal’s bowling in the first innings she said, “Kohli’s wicket gave me more satisfaction.” It’s great to see a mother pour love for her son like this. She is confident that Lakmal would perform even better in the coming matches.

Lakmal has a record to chase Lakmal is on the verge of equalling a world record and perhaps his mother isn’t aware of that.

She’d be very happy to learn that Lakmal has dismissed batsmen at the very first delivery of the match twice.

Kapil Dev and Richard Hadlee too have done this twice in test matches. But the record remains in favour of Pedro Collins from West Indies who has achieved this feat thrice. This means that one more occasion where Lakmal picks a wicket the very first ball and he would equal a world record.
