Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, recently left his fans heartbroken after he announced his retirement from international cricket. The cricketer is regarded as one of the best fielders the game has ever witnessed. His impeccable fielding and batting performances have made team India won several matches.
He has played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 72 T20Is, where he amassed 9000 runs in his international career. There’s no stopping to him when it comes to the shortest format of the game. He is literally a beast in the shortest format, this is the reason why he is fondly called Mr. IPL.
Suresh Raina has been one of the most successful cricketers in the history of IPL. Suresh Raina has taken 101 catches in IPL bagging the Best Catcher Award for two years.
Recently, in an interview with Cricbuzz after his retirement, he was given a list of 10 cricketers and five fielding positions inside the circle and was told to pick the five best fielders for particular positions.
Though it was a tough task but Raina did it brilliantly. Raina picked Jonty Rhodes to the field at backward point, which is one of the important and toughest positions to field. Suresh Raina then chose AB de Villiers to stand at covers. AB is brilliant not just with the bat but he never fails to amaze us with his amazing fielding performances.
He then picked Ravindra Jadeja, one of the best fielders in modern-day cricket. Suresh Raina gave him the job to stand at mid-off. While former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was picked to stand at mid-on position. Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting was picked to field at mid-wicket. He also pointed out Ricky Ponting’s ability to aim a single stump while fielding at the position during his career.
Check out the list of players and fielding positions Suresh Raina chose. Have a look:
