After stellar performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and having cleared the ‘Yo-Yo’ test, Suresh Raina finally made his way back to the Indian team. Suresh Raina’s name featured in the 16 man squad that has been designated to play the T20 series in South Africa.
He cleared the ‘Yo-yo’ test just before the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and in the tournament, he played a staggering knock where he hit a century of just 49 balls. This stormy century was then followed by two half-centuries.
Although, his team could not win the trophy Suresh Raina ended up winning his comeback to the national side.
After being selected for India’s T20 squad to play in South Africa, the 31-year-old batsman shared an emotional message and an inspirational one rather.
Suresh Raina said
“It was all belief and hard work. I never lost my confidence and kept working hard on my fitness as well as skills. I was always focused on my game and was waiting for some good opportunities.”
Suresh Raina further added that he just needs one knock to get going and that he knows that it shall come soon. He said that he is raring to go and spend some good time in the middle.
Suresh Raina played his last T20 in February 2017 against England at Bangalore. Since then he has been ignored by the selectors citing his form and fitness but now he has answered both the questions asked of him. Now we shall wait and see if Raina can make his comeback count.
He has worked really hard on his fitness and batting to earn a place yet again in the Indian side. He would surely be eager to get going and make his comeback to the national side count and look to cement his place in the team.
