Suresh Raina, Sussanne Khan Arrested After Police Raid Mumbai Club

In a shocking turn of events, retired Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhawa were arrested in Mumbai after a raid at the Mumbai Dragonfly club near the Mumbai airport. However, both were later released on bail.

Suresh Raina, Guru Randhawa, Sussanne Khan along with 31 other people were arrested in the raid, including seven members of the Andheri Club. All were accused of violating COVID norms after the arrests took place around 3 am.

Senior inspector of Sahar Police Station S Mane said, “A raid was conducted around 2.30 am at the Dragonfly Club near Mumbai airport. We found that the guests and those operating the club were not following lockdown measures, like wearing masks or observing social distancing. We arrested 34 persons that included seven staff members.”

The police officer confirmed that they arrested Suresh Raina and Guru Randhawa under sections 188 (disobedience to duty promulgated by public servant) and 269 (acts in a way that could spread an infection) among others. Since these sections are available, the celebrities were granted bail. The police officer said:

“There were some women celebrities as well but we did not arrest them. They were served with a notice and allowed to go,”

For the unversed, the Maharashtra government had declared a night curfew in municipal areas in order to control the growing concerns over a new coronavirus variant spreading in Britain. Ahead of the New Year, the Maharashtra government has imposed a series of restrictions on public activities, especially in Mumbai from December 22 to January 5 as a precautionary step.
