Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli Find Place In ICC’s T20 World Cup Most Valuable XI

The T20 World Cup 2022 finally came to an end with the England cricket team emerging as the world champions as they defeated Pakistan in the final to lift the trophy for the second time in history. The Men in Blue didn’t perform as per expectations as even though they managed to reach the semi-final stage after topping the points table of their Super 12 group, however, they lost by a whopping 10 wickets in their final game against England. 

While most of the Indian players were seen struggling with their form, however, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli had a fantastic tournament. All thanks to their sensational run in the T20 World Cup 2022, Virat and SKY have found their way into the ICC’s Most Valueable XI for the T20 World Cup.

While Virat Kohli was the leading run-scorer in the tournament, having smashed 296 runs from 6 games, which included four half-centuries. He played some crucial knocks against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Netherlands, and even in the semi-final against England to help his side in crunch situations. On the other hand, SKY finished as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament, right after Kohli as he smashed 239 runs from 6 games, at a strike rate of 189.68, which is the highest among all batsmen in the tournament. 

Hardik Pandya also got a place in the Most Valuable Team but as the 12th man. During the marquee event, he picked 8 wickets in the Super 12 stage with the ball. With the bat, he also played two crucial knocks against England and Pakistan.

Apart from the Indian players, the Most Valuable XI also included 4 players from England’s cricket team namely Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Mark Wood, and Alex Hales. Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan of Pakistan were also included in the list.

Glenn Phillips (New Zealand), Shadab Khan (Pakistan), Sam Curran (England), Anrich Nortje (South Africa), Mark Wood (England), Alex Hales (England), Jos Buttler (England), Virat Kohli (India), Suryakumar Yadav (India), Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Hardik Pandya (12th man, India).
