Former Indian coach and captain Anil Kumble has made a big statement about left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who made headlines due to his deadly bowling against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Kumble believes that Arshdeep Singh can play the same role for India as Zaheer Khan once played.

Arshdeep has been impressive in a few matches since making his India debut earlier this year. These include the T20 World Cup match played against Pakistan on Sunday, in which he took three wickets. Anil Kumble has closely tested Arshdeep Singh while being the coach of Punjab Kings and he is very impressed with him. Kumble said in an event of ESPNcricinfo:

“…Arshdeep has undoubtedly matured, and I’d like to see him continue. That is probably what Zak [Zaheer Khan] did for India…… I expect Arshdeep to go on to do some wonderful things for India,” Kumble told ESPNCricinfo.

He added: “I was impressed with Arshdeep, how he’s come through. I worked with him for three years, and I could see the kind of development that he has had in the T20 format, and last year’s IPL was a classic example of how he handled the pressure. He perhaps bowled the tricky overs for the team, and yeah, you don’t always look at the wickets column in the T20 game. You look at what moments the bowler comes up with,“

Arshdeep has played 14 T20s for India

Let us inform that 23-year-old Arshdeep Singh has played 14 T20 International matches for India so far. During this, he has taken 22 wickets at an impressive average of 18.55. Apart from this, Arshdeep has also played 37 matches in IPL. Arshdeep has taken 40 wickets in his IPL career.
