Bangladesh will begin their T20 World Cup campaign on Monday when they take on the Netherlands in Hobart for their first Super 12 round match. Both the teams are placed in Group 2 of the Super 12 alongside some of the other heavyweights like India and Pakistan.

Led by Scott Edwards, the Netherlands finished second in Group A in the preliminary qualifying round. They defeated UAE and Namibia but lost to Sri Lanka. However, since Namibia couldn’t defeat UAE in their last group game and thus finished third, making way for the Dutch to proceed to the Super 12.

Bangladesh has been in poor form. They were eliminated in the first round of the Asia Cup, failing to make it to the Super 4. They lost all 4 matches in the tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan and then lost to Afghanistan in the warm-up match. This has led to many even joking as to how Bangladesh managed to sneak into the Super 12 round. But here they are, and Shakib Al Hasan’s team would want to put up some impressive performances.
