T20 World Cup 2022: Brett Lee Names Five Most Dangerous Batsmen In The Tournament, Only 1 Indian In The List

Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee has listed out his top five most dangerous batsmen in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. A bit surprisingly, the commentator picked only one Indian.

The tournament, which got underway on October 16 with the preliminary qualifying round, followed by the Super 12 on October 23, is almost halfway done with all the teams having played at least 2 group matches each and 4 teams completed 3 matches each.

The first name on Brett Lee’s list was none other than Virat Kohli, the two-time Man of the Tournament in T20 World Cup history. Kohli broke his 71st-century jinx during the Asia Cup and played match-winning knocks against Australia and South Africa at home.

He’s been at his best in the two Super 12 matches so far – playing one of the greatest T20I knocks of 53-ball 82* against Pakistan followed by 62* against the Netherlands.

Next, Lee picked Australian opener David Warner, who was the Player of the Tournament in last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE where he helped Australia win their maiden T20 world title. Warner, however, has two low scores of 5 and 11 and the hosts would want their star batter to turn up in the upcoming games.

The next choices of Brett Lee were Babar Azam – the Pakistani skipper who’s had a poor tournament so far, registering scores of 0 and 4 vs India and Zimbabwe, respectively; Pakistan lost both the matches and are now staring at a group-stage exit – and England’s Ben Stokes, who also has been out of touch, managing only 8 runs across two innings, but the left-hander can play a match-turning knock anytime.

At last, but not least, Brett Lee mentioned Australia’s latest acquisition, the power-hitter Tim David, who got into Australia’s squad on the back of his exploits in the T20 circuit around the world. David is a powerful ball basher and is capable of making great impact toward the end of the innings.
