The Indian cricket team was knocked out of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Thursday (November 10) after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against England in the second semifinal played at the Adelaide Oval. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team failed to defend the target of 169 runs, which England achieved in just 16 overs without losing any wickets, all thanks to the sensational performances of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.

India’s defeat on Thursday was Men in Blue’s third straight loss in the World Cup semifinals. India has failed to win any ICC tournament ever since their win in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Following India’s defeat, former cricketers and fans criticized the performance of the team in the knockout stage and their inability to win the ICC tournaments. Amidst all this, former Indian cricketer and world cup hero Gautam Gambhir took a dig at Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as he hailed MS Dhoni’s achievements as the captain of the Indian cricket team.

Why Gautam Gambhir blames MS Dhoni for his missed 100 in 2011 World Cup final | Sports News,The Indian Express

Gautam Gambhir, who was a part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup winning teams, hailed Dhoni’s record as a captain in the ICC events and praised him for winning all three ICC trophies.

Speaking at Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said: “Someone will come and probably score more double 100s than Rohit Sharma and more 100s than Virat Kohli, but I don’t think any Indian captain would be able to achieve three ICC trophies,”

Notably, MS Dhoni is the only captain in the history of this game to have won all three ICC trophies as a captain. He won team India the T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup in his first attempt as Indian captain. He took the Indian cricket team to the number one spot under his leadership.
