Team India openers once again were forced to throw their weapons down against the sensational Pakistani pace bowling attack when the two powerhouses clashed in the IND vs PAK Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the iconic, hundred-thousand-packed crowd MCG on Sunday.
Pakistan posted a total of 159, which may have seemed par at the halfway stage of the game, but soon became a steep target when the Pakistani pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf had the Indian batters dancing to their tunes.
India lost 3 of their top 4 inside the powerplay ending the first six overs at the score of 31/3. KL Rahul was the first to go. In the second over, he chopped on to a fiery delivery from Naseem Shah for only 4 runs off 8 balls.
In the fourth over, the other opener, skipper Rohit Sharma, was the next to go to a pacy ball from Haris Rauf. Sharma had already looked fidgety against the high pace and movement generated by the Pakistani speedster.
A 145 KPH snorter from Rauf on the length and outside the off-stump had Rohit Sharma poking at it tentatively, with his feet stationed. The thick outside edge flew fast, but Iftikar Ahmed was sharp at first slip and took a good catch diving low, thus bringing an end to the innings of the Indian skipper.
Rohit Sharma was trolled heavily on Twitter after his knock of 4 runs off 7 balls which meant India once again failed to have a good start with the bat against Pakistan.
