T20 World Cup 2022 IND vs ZIM: Top 5 Shots Played By Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav continues his sensational form in 2022 and, in India’s last Super 12 round fixture, plundered 61 runs off just 25 balls against Zimbabwe to lit up the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.

Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering knock overshadowed KL Rahul’s half-century, the opener giving great signs of being back to his best by scoring 51 runs off 35 balls. But by the time when India’s innings ended, the fans were left gasping at Suryakumar Yadav’s terrific knock, and the shots he was able to play.

It was a typical Suryakumar Yadav knock where he scored runs in all parts of the ground, toying with the plans of the bowlers and opponent captain.

In all, Suryakumar Yadav whacked 6 fours and 4 sixes, but none looked to be hit in disdain. Instead, he maneuvered through the field, hit the gaps whether between the fielders or over them, and largely used the pace of the bowlers to hit boundaries behind the square.

There were some jaw-dropping shots blazing away from Suryakumar Yadav’s willow.

Here we will look at some of his best shots from the blitzkrieg against Zimbabwe:

After hitting three fours to Muzarabani and Ngarava, Suryakumar’s first six came off Ngarava. A gift of a full toss was offered from the pacer and Suryakumar played his trademark pick-up shot that went sailing over deep backward square leg.

It was in the death overs that Zimbabwean bowlers further bore the brunt of Suryakumar’s range-hitting prowess. He tonked Chatara for a scoop four before lofting a full-length delivery outside off and it went all the way over deep extra cover for a maximum.

Suryakumar then tore into Ngarava in the last over of India’s innings. To a full toss outside off, Suryakumar Yadav went low on his knee and swept away over a deep backward square leg. He brought up his fifty off 23 balls with a brace before walloping Ngarava for a four and six – both times going down on his knee and scooping/sweeping behind square – to close out another entertaining knock.
