T20 World Cup 2022: No Place For Team India In Robin Uthappa’s Four T20 World Cup Semifinalist Teams

The Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 got off on Saturday with hosts Australia playing New Zealand at Sydney Cricket Ground. As the tournament is now heading towards the thrilling part, former cricketers and experts have already started to predict the four teams that will advance to the semi-final round.

In a shocking prediction, former Indian opening batter Robin Uthappa, who was part of the MS Dhoni-led side that won the T20 World Cup title in 2007, has not included the Indian cricket team in his list of four teams that will qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Robin Uthappa feels that, like in 2021, India will once again make an exit from the group stage and the wait to win the second T20 World Cup title will go on for two more years.

Speaking on  ESPNCricinfo, the 36-year-old right-handed batter, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last month, has backed South Africa and Pakistan to make it to the last four from Group 2 of the Super 12 stage. Uthappa said: “I want to start off with a disclaimer. I do not think Indian fans would be too happy. But my semi-finalists would be Australia, England, Pakistan, and South Africa,”

The Men in Blue were chosen by a number of people as their favorites to win the title and as one of their semi-finalists, including Anil Kumble, Tom Moody, Faf du Plessis, Sam Billings, and Darren Ganga. The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma will kickstart their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

India’s squad for T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami.

Standby Players: Mohammed Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Shardul Thakur.
