T20 World Cup 2022 Semi-Final: “Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant” – Team India Likely To Persist With This Player For Clash Against England

The Indian cricket team is all set to take on England in the upcoming semi-final clash of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval. As the fans await for the thrilling contest on Thursday, the debate surrounding ‘Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant’ has once again become one of the major talking points.

The Indian side may go in with an unchanged XI for the second semifinal against England at the Adelaide Oval.  The unchanged combination also means that Rishabh Pant, who played his first game against Zimbabwe at the MCG, would be persisted ahead of experienced finisher Dinesh Karthik.

It has to be noted that Dinesh Karthik was part of India’s playing XI in the first four games but with very few returns. He isn’t having the greatest of runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. DK has only managed to score just 14 runs in four games at an average of 4.66. In the game against Zimbabwe on Sunday, Rishabh Pant was given an opportunity to play after warming the bench for the first four games, however, he endured a poor outing and got dismissed cheaply for just three runs.

On Tuesday, DK was seen batting for the longest time in the nets but Pant looks the favorite to retain his place in the playing XI for the semi-final against England. Notably, if Pant is preferred in playing XI, then Hardik Pandya will have to take up the responsibility of the specialized finisher.

Another important thing to be noted is that left-arm spinner Axar Patel will be preferred to legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal if India decides to go with the unchanged combination. Yuzvendra Chahal hasn’t got a single opportunity in the ongoing World Cup in Australia.
