T20 World Cup 2022 IND vs ZIM: Rishabh Pant Gets Trolled Badly For Scoring 3 Runs

The Rishabh Pant-Dinesh Karthik debate rages on and going into the semi-final, the Indian team still wouldn’t have proper clarity over who to pick as Rishabh Pant too failed his chance on Sunday against Zimbabwe, which is India’s last Super 12 match.

India qualified for the semis after South Africa lost to the Netherlands earlier in the day, making the game vs Zimbabwe a dead rubber, but still, to have the momentum of a win going into the semi-final India didn’t make many changes. Rohit announced only one change at the toss: Rishabh Pant replacing Dinesh Karthik after the latter had failed to perform well in his chances so far.

In 3 innings, Karthik scored only 14 runs at much less than run-a-ball. Perhaps that would have prompted India to bring in Rishabh Pant, who also brings in the left-handedness in a right-handed dominant team.

The reasoning, though, which Rohit gave for this swap was that Pant “is the only guy who hasn’t played a single game on this tour including the warm-up games, we wanted to give him a game.”

Anyway, Pant couldn’t grab his chance either today vs Zimbabwe as he got out for only 3 runs off 5 balls. Early in his innings, Pant slogged left-arm spinner Sean Williams down the ground. He even connected it decently, but Ryan Burl took a stunning diving catch at long-on to dismiss Pant.

This low score from Rishabh Pant obviously led to Twitter exploding again.

While some fans trolled Pant for failing to make his chance count, the Sanju Samson fans also pounced on this opportunity.

Here are the tweets trolling Rishabh Pant for his failure vs Zimbabwe:
