T20 World Cup 2022: Injury Scare For Rohit Sharma Before Semi-Final vs England, Here's The Latest Update

India skipper Rohit Sharma gave a short injury scare to the team and the Indian fans two days out from the semi-final against England as he left the nets after being struck on his right forearm while batting in the nets.

It has been learned that Rohit Sharma sustained a blow on his right forearm while facing throw-downs on Tuesday morning.

“He was attended to immediately by the team’s support staff. After a consultation, Rohit tried to take strike again but aborted his net session in pain after facing one ball,” reported Cricbuzz.

Sharma then “stayed back at the outdoor nets facility, icing his injured forearm with mind coach Paddy Upton by his side even as throw down specialist D Raghavendra was left distraught by the development,” the report added.

Good news: Rohit Sharma took a 30 minutes break and returned to resume batting

Thankfully, Rohit Sharma returned to the nets after half an hour to resume his nets session and “batted without any discomfort”.

This injury scare couldn’t have come at a worse time, as Rohit is the only member of the top 5 who hasn’t really clicked so far in the tournament. His reputation of being injured prior to crucial overseas series further would have compounded the matters for the Indian skipper.

This was an optional batting session where along with Rohit, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik also turned up to face throw-downs and net pacers Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj.

In 5 knocks in the tournament so far, Rohit Sharma has scored only 89 runs at a strike rate of 109 with a scratchy half-century against the Netherlands.

India and England will meet in the second semi-final, on Thursday, at the Adelaide Oval. The first semi-final will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand, on Wednesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

India had finished on top of Group 2 with 8 points (4 wins, 1 loss vs South Africa).
