T20 World Cup Semi-Final: English Journalist Spots Three “Weaknesses” In Suryakumar Yadav’s Batting

Right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav has been in red-hot form as he has impressed everyone with his consistent performances in the ongoing  T20 World Cup. The star batter has already registered three half-centuries in the Super 12 stage. In the match against Zimbabwe, SKY played a stunning knock of 61 runs off just 25 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 6 fours to take India’s total past the 180-run mark. This total was enough for team India to seal a comfortable 71-run win and they will now face the England cricket team in the semi-finals on Thursday at Adelaide.

All thanks to his back-to-back batting performances have led him to gain the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings. With a total of 226 runs in the competition so far which include three half-centuries, SKY is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament only behind teammate Virat Kohli.

He has taken the cricket fraternity by storm with his terrific batting display and has been receiving praise from all corners. While he is coming off as a threat for the bowlers right now, famous cricket/data analyst Freddie Wilde took to his social media and highlighted the weaknesses of Suryakumar Yadav as he shared a detailed analysis of SKY’s batting performances in the shortest format of the game. He explained how fast spin, SLA, and slowies can trouble Suryakumar’s batting. He wrote:

“SKY is close to flawless but fast spin, SLA & slowies are possible weaknesses (chart 1). Early on defend with classical good balls (3) & attack with 4-5 & 8-9m lengths (2 & 7). Pace off wide can slow him (5); scores heavily behind square (6). Once he’s set: pray (4). #T20WorldCup”
