South African leg-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has reacted to the viral ‘Ball of the Century’ video and tagged teammate finger-spinner Keshav Maharaj, asking the senior bowler to practice this hilarious type of delivery.
Since Sunday, a video from the game between Kuwait Nationals and SBS CC in the KCC T20 Challengers Cup 2024 has gone viral that has broken the internet because of the hilarity of the delivery and its result from a spinner.
In the video, the bowler, a spinner, bowled a very loopy and slow delivery that pitched a significant distance outside the off-stump. Seeing the ball way outside the off-stump, the batter moved across the line to hack it on the legside.
But the ball turned greatly into the stumps after pitching and knocked over the bails, hitting the top of the middle stump. The batsman, who had moved across, was so confounded that he could only manage to look at the trajectory of the ball as it crashed into the middle and leg stumps. Fans are hailing this as the ‘Ball of the Century’ because of the huge degree of turn it underwent.
The video came to the notice of wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, who tagged left-arm spinner and his teammate Keshav Maharaj in it, writing, “We’ve gotta work on this ball @keshavmaharaj16.”

Keshav Maharaj led the Durban Super Giants to the final where they lost the final to Aiden Markram’s Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Shamsi was part of the Paarl Royals team which reached the playoffs but were knocked out by Faf du Plessis’ Joburg Super Kings. Shamsi took 10 wickets in the tournament and Maharaj took 15 scalps.
