Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener Kyle Mayers was in his destructive elements today against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday in Mohali.
The carnage-enforcer of a batsman that is Kyle Mayers rocked on the Punjab Kings bowlers early and took LSG’s score to 74 in the powerplay but got out in the last over of the powerplay, to Kagiso Rabada, after cracking 54 runs off 24 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 sixes.
This was Kyle Mayers’ 4th fifty in 8 innings in the IPL 2023
Kyle Mayers’ entertaining, dominating knock included a belligerently hit sixer off debut pacer Gurnoor Brar. It was a free-hit delivery that emboldened the left-handed West Indian to shuffle across the off-stump – he perhaps still would have looked for a big hit even if it wasn’t a free-hit ball – and launch Gurnoor Brar’s length delivery on the leg side with a meaty blow.
No sooner had Kyle Mayers struck the ball than Simon Doull went on a rampage in the commentary box, astonished by the power and timing on that. A six was written clearly on the shot as its connection was as sweet as it gets.

Meanwhile, LSG have gone on a rampant mode today on this flat deck in Mohali after coming off a shocking drubbing in hometown Lucknow by the hands of Gujarat Titans.
After Mayers’ blitz in the powerplay, it was about to get even worse for PBKS. Ayush Badoni scored 43 runs off 24 balls and was involved in a big partnership of 89 (47) with Marcus Stoinis, who raised a fifty. Stoinis was then involved in another gigantic stand with Nicholas Pooran. Both the batters are smoking the PBKS bowlers all around the park currently. At the time of writing, LSG are 235/3 at the 18-over mark.
