Continuing his purple patch in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday, Rajasthan Royals’ opener Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a sensational century against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Jaiswal made the 1000th match of the Indian Premier League even more memorable by playing a blockbuster knock. Jaiswal’s batting masterclass propelled Rajasthan Royals to a massive total of 212 runs against the hosts at Wankhede.
Opener Jaiswal joined forces with superstar Jos Buttler and took the game by storm. Jaiswal, who walked out to open the innings with Jos Buttler, attacked the Mumbai Indians bowlers to all the corners of the ground from the word go. He rained fours and sixes at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his hundred in 53 balls to help his side post 212 for 7 in the first innings against Mumbai Indians in the 1000th match of the IPL. He was eventually dismissed after playing a stellar knock of 124 runs off 62 balls. His blistering knock was laced with 14 fours and 8 sixes.
As Jaiswal got dismissed, he received a standing-ovation from everyone present at the Wankhede Stadium, including those who were present at the Rajasthan Royals dugout.
Meanwhile, during the mid-innings break, Jaiswal got emotional about his knock. He also received the Orange Cap as he has amassed 428 runs in 9 matches, which is the highest so far. Speaking about his knock, he said:
“I think I enjoyed every part of my innings. I was thinking right, planning right and hitting the right shots. I have practised all the shots that I want to play. Every time I hold a bat, be it in the nets or the match, I feel the same way. I have worked hard with Zubin sir. It is really special but it is just one game and I want to keep going. I know my role in the team, make sure run-rate is high and contribute in whatever way possible to the team,”
