Team India Set To Wear New Jersey In Tests Versus Australia

Team India have almost reached the end of their limited-overs tour of Australia Down Under. India wore a new jersey for the limited-overs series and it was nostalgic for all the Indian fans as it was very similar to their 1992 World Cup jersey. Although it didn’t bring Team India much success in the ODI series as they lost 2-1, they have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20I series with one match still to play.

Team India will be heading to the four-match Test series, also known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will begin from December 17 with the first Test at Adelaide. This time, they will again be wearing a new jersey in red-ball cricket. Although the norms that the jersey should be predominantly white will remain the same, it will have a new sponsor’s logo. The sponsors like BYJU’S have paid extra money to make sure that their logo size is large on the Indian jersey.

How will Team India’s new Test jersey look like?

Similarly, MPL sports, which have signed a three-year deal with BCCI, will be team India’s merchandise and kit sponsor and it’s logo will also be featured on team India’s jersey. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the cricket boards have suffered huge losses as there has been very little international cricket in 2020. Thus the ICC granted the sponsors to pay some extra money in order to get their logo size bigger on the jersey of the cricket teams. This extra money will also help the boards compensate for their losses. Thus, BYJU’S and MPL Sports will be the two major sponsors for team India and will have their logos on the new Test jersey.

India A have already made the use of that jersey during the practice game against Australia A. The players of Team India’s Test squad like CHeteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have trained hard and have reaped the benefits as the former scored a fine half-century while India’s vice-captain went on to score a century. Both will be crucial for team India’s chances of making it consecutive Test series wins Down Under.
