‘That’s My Boy!’ – Virender Sehwag Congratulates Rishabh Pant For His Century

The Indian Cricket Team, playing against England in a Test match in Ahmedabad, are in a strong position, thanks to a century by Rishabh Pant. And, when Virender Sehwag, saw Rishabh complete his century with a six, he could not hold himself from appreciating the young man’s efforts and in his own unique way, congratulated him on social media.

Rishabh Pant over the last few matches seems to have caught up on some good form and has been doing well for the team, scoring big in one game after another. In the ongoing match too, Rishabh after scoring a brilliant century got out to James Anderson’s delivery. Rishabh during his 118 ball long stay on the pitch, scored 101 runs, helping the Indian team getting a significant lead over England. India’s score stands at 294 runs at the end of Day 2, which is 89 runs ahead of England’s total.

‘That’s my boy!’, wrote Virender Sehwag

Sehwag took it to his social media handles, and posted a picture from a famous Indian TV show, which said, Arri Dada Mauj Aagao, which translates to Wow man! I thoroughly enjoyed it. He captioned it ‘Me Watching #rishabhpant reverse sweep Anderson for a boundary and then bring up his century with a SIX. That’s my Boy!’

The explosive opener that Sehwag was, during his playing days, he had been known to hit sixes, and while in the 90s, make sure that he would attempt at least once to hit a six and get to a century, a practise which many cricket players would not consider to be the best. But, Sehwag being Sehwag, did it and more often than not, was successful too, making it his trademark. And, now when Rishabh Pant did the same, he did not take long to appreciate the efforts of the 23-year-old wicket keeper batsman.

At the start of the Test match, England had won the toss and had chosen to bat fast. The Indian bowlers were quick on their feet and dismissed England for a mere 205 runs. But, when the Indian batsmen came on to bat, the story was not much different, as before reaching 100 runs, the team had lost a total of 4 wickets and things did not look anything similar to what they are now. But, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma, who scored 49 runs off 144 balls made sure that the Indian batting got stable and got in a fighting position. And, as it is, India holds a firm grip on the match, with their score at 294 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of Day 2 and a lead of 89 runs.
