IPL 2020 is almost confirmed to happen in the UAE, as day by day, the possibility of the cash-rich league happening this year is increasing. Earlier, the fans were worried when the COVID-19 pandemic forced BCCI to suspend the season indefinitely. However, BCCI has reportedly asked for the government’s approval to conduct the tourney in the UAE.
Aakash Chopra recently stated that RCB and KXIP would be the biggest winners of this venue change, and in this article, we will glance at the one player from each team whose prominence will increase if the IPL happens in the UAE.
KXIP – Glenn Maxwell
UAE has hosted the IPL only once, and Glenn Maxwell ruled that season. Kings XI Punjab made it to their maiden IPL final courtesy of Glenn Maxwell’s heroics. He loves to play there and will make a huge impact this year.
RCB – Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn has an exceptional record in Dubai. He has played two T20I games at the venue against Pakistan, and in those matches, he picked up five wickets at an economy rate of 4.38.
SRH – Kane Williamson
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s star batsman Kane Williamson has played 5 T20Is matches in the UAE. In those five games, he amassed 140 runs, with his highest score being 80. The Kiwi skipper has the right amount of experience playing in the UAE.
CSK – Shane Watson
Shane Watson has played T20I cricket all over the world. In the 4 T20Is he has played in Dubai, Watson scored 121 runs and picked up three wickets. His all-round brilliance could be game-changing for CSK.
MI – Lasith Malinga
Lasith Malinga is another player who has played T20 cricket in almost every part of the world. The veteran pace bowler will likely retire from IPL after this season. He has bowled eight overs in Dubai and picked up four wickets. Also, he starred in the Abu Dhabi T10 League last year.
KKR – Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan featured in the T10 League last year and scored well. He has played seven T20Is in the UAE, and his highest score in the country is 67*. Morgan will be a prime pick for KKR this year.
DC – Shikhar Dhawan
When the Asia Cup happened in the UAE last year, Shikhar Dhawan formed a terrific partnership with Rohit Sharma. The left-handed batsman will look to repeat the same form for Delhi in the UAE.
RR – Ben Stokes
2020 has been the year of Ben Stokes. The man has been performing so brilliantly that he would likely rule the IPL this year. He has never played a T20I in the UAE, but given how terrific his form has been, he will be the player to watch out for in IPL 2020.
