Every cricketer dreams of playing for his country and desires of representing the national cricket team on the international stage. There can be nothing better than representing their team in mega tournaments like World Cup.

Every player wants to make it big on the mega tournaments like World Cup however when a player gets an opportunity to make a debut in a big tournament like the World Cup, then there can be nothing bigger than this.

Yes, an Indian cricketer has got the privilege of starting his international career by lifting the WC trophy. Well, this hasn’t happened with anyone else in the history of world cricket, excluding this player. The player is none other than the veteran Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan.

Yusuf Pathan is known for his aggressive performances. He has played 57 ODIs and 22 T20 matches for team India. In the 57 ODIs, Yusuf scored at a strike rate of 113, while in T20 cricket, he had a strike rate of 143.58. However, not many are aware of the fact that Pathan got a chance to lift the WC trophy for India in his debut match. The Men in Blue won the 2007 ICC World Cup T20 by defeating Pakistan in the final match.

In the final of WC, the Indian team management gave an opportunity to young Yusuf Pathan, who replaced Virender Sehwag. The Baroda-based all-rounder was sent for the opening position in the final match as well as for fielding in his debut match.

Though he scored only 15 runs off 8 balls, he managed to impress everyone with his stunning shots. Team India defeated Pakistan by 5 runs to win the T20 World Cup title. In this way, Yusuf Pathan lifted the World Cup trophy in his debut match.
