If there is a consistent name that has propelled Team India to the very gates of remarkable outings and have been doing pretty consistently, it has to be that of Suryakumar Yadav. From that incredible battle against England on the latter’s turf to taming the big guns of Australia and South Africa, SKY has been altogether in a different head space.
The most obvious question where bigger monikers of the sport have struggled to get the momentum rolling their way, how is Sky managing it? Well there are a few possible explanations to the same and we will try and touch a few bases here and there.
The first and foremost is that Suryakumar Yadav is in form. This is the most logical explanation that one can come up with. When a batter is in form, believe this or not but anything he touches turns into gold. It is a matter of momentum too and with the building momentum one starts getting a lot more confident. With every passing step, the confidence keeps on building and when you are high on confidence, you choose to pull off the most daring rabbits out of your hat.
Secondly, you would find someone very rarely who is as dedicated as Suryakumar Yadav to the cause. He believes in himself and is willing to put all those hard yards in the nets to improve his batting. As we are all aware of the fact that practice makes man perfect, well, if you are putting in so many hours in the net, when you hit the pitch even the most extraordinary deliveries that you are subjected too, would be looking ordinary.
Thirdly, he has got some terrific movement inside the popping crease and his incessant shuffle in stance has made life a lot difficult for the bowlers. A crucial aspect of modern cricket is if you can keep the bowlers off your scent and Sky does it well by getting into the bowlers’ head. His constant movement forces the bowlers to change their plans at the last moment and well, in most of the occasions, Surya wins.
Finally, Suryakumar Yadav is an absolutely fearless customer and he is not afraid of taking that leap of faith. He is willing to pepper the bowlers from ball one and no matter what may come, he would hang in there, torment you and then eventually shift gears to big. He is the perfect archetype of what a modern T20I cricketer should be.
