There Is A Slight Hope That India Will Play Against Pakistan In A Tri-Series

IND vs PAK: Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley has given sizzling news for the cricket lovers as he hinted at a chance of Australia hosting India and Pakistan in a tri-series.

Hockley reacted to PCB chairman Ramiz Raja‘s proposal in January when Raja had said that he would pitch to the ICC for an annual quadrangular T20I tournament involving Pakistan, India, Australia and England to be hosted on a rotational basis among the four nations.

Following the drawn Test in Rawalpindi, Nick Hockley said that CA would be open to hosting arch-rivals India and Pakistan as it would be a massive commercial gain for Australia given the vast number of supporters of the two Asian giants in the country.

“Personally, I really like the tri-series concept. It’s worked well in the past,” Hockley was quoted as saying by Reuters. “We’d be very open to hosting matches. There are really big communities of both India and Pakistan living in Australia. It’s a contest that everyone wants to see in world cricket and if we can help support further opportunities, we would love to do that.”

Due to the longstanding political tensions between India and Pakistan, they have not played a bilateral series for 9 years, and only face each other in ICC tournaments and Asia Cups.

Pakistan broke their World Cup losing streak against India last year when they handed a 10-wicket defeat to Virat Kohli’s side in the T20 World Cup in Dubai. India will have their shot at revenge when both teams collide once again during this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Hockley confirmed that the October 23 game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground has already been sold out.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan-Australia Test in Rawalpindi ended in a tame draw with only 14 wickets falling over 5 days and both teams’ batter enjoying the flat, dead pitch which had nothing for the fast bowlers.

India, on the other hand, hammered Sri Lanka inside three days in Mohali and make progress in the WTC. They move to Bangalore for the day-night Test.
