The Indian women’s cricket team have managed to capture the hearts of fans all over the world thanks to their splendid performances in the World Cup. By taking India to the final, they were able to inspire fans all over the world in a sport that is begging for recognition from its male counterparts.

Just before India headed to play the final against England, they were greeted with some really fantastic news courtesy the BCCI. The board that controls cricket in the country announced that they would reward each of the players with a sum of Rs.50 Lakh each for their contribution and work that helped them in entering the final.

More gifts:

The support staff too, were awarded with Rs. 25 Lakh each for their contribution towards the cause. Once the team played the final and lost by a close margin, everybody were praising them for their efforts in the tournament.

That is when former selector Chamundeshwaranath decided to enter the fray and present India’s captain Mithali Raj with a luxury BMW for her efforts. He has presented her with a Chevrolet sedan back in 2007 and is upgrading her ride this time round.

He claimed that India had been inspired by Mithali’s effort over the years and she was able to inspire the entire nation to take up the sport. He lauded the way she led the team and for being a shining light of Indian Women’s cricket.
