Cricket in India is much more than just a game of bat and ball. For the fans in India, this game is more like a religion, filled with emotions. Although, India is a multi-sporting country, where people are crazy about the variety of games including Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Football, …etc. However, the kind of love cricket receives from it’s fans, no other sports does.
Cricket receives the majority share both in terms of playing numbers and the fan following. And one of the major reason behind the abundance of love cricket gets in India is the infrastructure. From Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium of New Delhi, Eden Gardens of Kolkata to Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai, our stadiums have hosted many international matches and even World Cup. In almost each and every state there is at least one world class cricket stadium.
Well, much to our surprise, India is ready to enter another name of stadiums in their list and this stadium is going to be ‘world’s largest stadium in India’.
While the government is keeping silent on the updates about the stadium here, in this article we bring you the latest updates and the pictures from the construction site of the world’s largest stadium which is being built, at Motera in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
If you aren’t aware, then the 700-crore stadium got it’s green signal at the beginning of the year 2017. Now after two years, the fans got to see glimpse into some solid construction work that’s gone into the stadium.
The construction pictures were shared by the Gujarat Cricket Association Vice-President, Parimal Nathwani through his twitter handle, where he mentioned that this stadium is the dream project of the state cricket board.

With a final budget of Rs.700 crores, the stadium is being built across 63 acres of land, with the help of L&T and Populous, who have been given the construction tender and the opportunity to design it, respectively.
So far, the infrastructure of the stadium will include three practice grounds and an indoor cricket academy, inside the stadium. As per some sources, the parking area is capable of accommodating about 3,000 cars and 10,000 two-wheelers!
Apart from this, the stadium also boasts of having 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, a club-house and an Olympic -size swimming pool! Yes, you read that right.
From capacity to seating to various other spatial parameters, this stadium vouches to take over the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground and Eden Gardens in Kolkata, in every sphere.
Furthermore, the stadium is expected to be absolutely ready and up for holding matches by 2023, when India will host both the Cricket World Cup and also the World’s largest cricket stadium, and we just can’t wait for this!
