This Is How MS Dhoni Planned Rovman Powell’s Dismissal With Kuldeep Yadav

MS Dhoni is a genius on the field. Over the years, we have seen MS Dhoni lead India in the most perfect manner. Dhoni is very unorthodox when it comes to batting, bowling and captaincy. It is true that Dhoni is no more the captain of India, but when it comes to setting field and taking key decisions, Indian captain Virat Kohli relies heavily on Dhoni.

In the third ODI of the ongoing series between India and West Indies, MS Dhoni was in very good form. He batted brilliantly and anchored the Indian innings by scoring 78 runs off 79 balls. In his innings, Dhoni smashed 2 sixes and 4 fours. It was a very important innings for India and personally for Dhoni as well, because he was under a lot of pressure runs after few failures in the recent past. Dhoni answered the critics in his trademark style i.e. by letting his bat do the talking.

Later, when India came out to bowl, Dhoni was consistently talking to his captain and bowlers and passing on crucial advice to them. And, because the stump mic was louder than usual, we could hear what MS Dhoni was saying.

This Is How MS Dhoni Planned Rovman Powell’s Dismissal With Kuldeep Yadav

During one of Kuldeep Yadav’s overs, Dhoni told him to bowl fuller because Rovman Powell wasn’t stepping out and hitting from his crease.

“Upar daal, yeh aage nahin niklega.” (Bowl fuller, he is not going to step out)

Yadav listened to what Dhoni was saying and kept bowling fuller. Three deliveries later, Powell went for the big sweep and he was caught in the deep by Hardik Pandya. Dhoni’s advice played a key role as Yadav was bowling shorter thinking the batsman would step out, but Dhoni who was watching him from behind the stumps, told Yadav that he doesn’t like stepping out and this made him change his length, which eventually resulted in a wicket.
