One of the most improved teams over the last decade or so has easily been India. They have dominated opposition at home and away and the most recent ODI victory over the Australians.

The teams will be playing the three match T20 series against each other on Saturday. Both India and Australia know that they have to show up in the series otherwise India will end up steamrolling them once again.

As the series commences, Kohli starts as the best T20 batsman in the world while the bowler list is led by Pakistani Imad Wasim. Jasprit Bumrah can rise to the top with a splendid performance. A good series can raise India to the second spot. Here’s a few permutations and computations:

If India win 3-0:

In this case, New Zealand, who are at the top of the rankings will find themselves just 3 points ahead of the Indians. The series win will set India up to become the best in the world across all formats when the Kiwis come to India in November. Australia would lose 8 points in this scenario but still remain in 7th.

Australia win 3-0:

If the Aussies whitewash India, they will rise to the third spot ahead of the West Indies and just a point behind the Pakistanis. If India lose 3-0, they will go down to seventh.

If India win 2-1:

Should India edge the series 2-1, they will still be at the number 5 position with 2 points gained. They will be then just one point behind England. Australia will lose 2 points but remain 7th.

If Australia win 2-1:

Australia winning the series 2-1 means that they will go to number 5 and finish on 114 points while India will fall to the 6th spot and be 1 point behind the Aussies.
