This wasn’t the start Shreyas Iyer would have thought of while getting his maiden ODI cap but that’s a part and parcel of the game.
Made use of the opportunities
Shreyas Iyer had big responsibilities on his shoulder to fill in the place Kohli at all crucial Number three. He failed in Dharamshala but in Mohali he justified his selection with an impounding innings of 88.
He missed out on a century but he was just flawless in the manner in which he got his runs at Mohali. Rohit Sharma’s Double ton overshadowed his innings but the cricket fraternity had started to see rising hero in him.
A repeat of heroics
The Mumbai batsman continued the good form at Vizag too. He scored 65 at a good pace and stitched an important partnership with Shikhar Dhawan.
Shreyas Iyer was spectacular to watch and each shot of his expressed the great potential he holds. He enjoys his batting and is a busy player who likes to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Has Shreyas ended India’s No 4 woes?
India has experimented a lot with the Number 4 spot in last one year or so. From Yuvraj to Manish Pandey to Hardik Pandya, India’s Number 4 woes seemed to never settle down.
But Shreyas has reflected great potential and has seemed very promising to end India’s hunt for a regular number 4 batsman.
Shreyas has made it evident that he has all the potential and caliber to end India’s middle order worries. It seems like Shreyas Iyer will own that spot with authority and comeback for Yuvi has become all the more difficult or perhaps next to impossible now.
