Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman in world cricket, across all three formats of the game. In the last 3 years or so, Kohli has played many match-winning innings for India and established himself as one of the greatest ever batsmen in One Day International (ODI) cricket, and many believe his best is still to come.

Indian cricket fans like to compare and the comparison between Virat Kohli and his idol Sachin Tendulkar has now become inevitable. Every time Virat Kohli plays a good knock or breaks a record, fans and media get together and start the inevitable debate- Can Virat Kohli equal or better Sachin Tendulkar’s records in ODI cricket?

Peter Miller aka @thecricketgeek tweeted some numbers that present a strong case for those who believe Virat Kohli can better Sachin Tendulkar’s records in ODI cricket.

Peter Miller tweeted Sachin and Kohli’s numbers after 174 ODIs and surprisingly, Virat is miles ahead of Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar after 174 ODIs – 5888 runs, 12 tons, average 38.73

Virat Kohli after 174 ODIs – 7413*, 26 tons, average 52.17

Tendulkar after 174 ODIs – 5888 runs, 12 tons, ave 38.73
