The 2017-2018 Ashes has ended in a great disappointment for England as they went down 4-0 in the series. Clearly, Steve Smith and his men have decimated the visitors and have shown the world how to play clinical test cricket.
Joe Root, on the other hand, will be flying back to England with a few regrets and a sense of shame as the England skipper failed to have any control over the series. Steve Smith led his team from the front and was adjudged the man of the series for his stalwart performances which guided Australia to this thumping win.
ROOT GIVES THE FORWARD SHORT LEG A FIERCE BLOW ON THE HELMET
In the second innings after England was asked to bat again Joe Root tried to play a shot on the leg side and it was a fierce blow coming from the willow of the England captain. The ball went on to hit Cameron Bancroft on the helmet and it would have been an amply impactful blow right at the helmet.
Had the ball penetrated the helmet we cannot even imagine the quantum of damage it would have done to the forward short leg fielder. Clearly, this video is an endorsement of the fact that the forward short leg is the most lethal fielding position which can incur a great magnitude of damage to the fielder.
The fielder, Cameron Bancroft however, remained unmoved at the blow even though he would have got jitters rushing inside his soul when he took that fierce blow. It is never easy fielding at this position for the risk factor is always high, one always has to be in a bent position and most importantly you have to be very sharp taking those catches which give no time to react.
