England smashed a world record 26 sixes in the carnage that their batsman brought in Amstelveen on Friday against hosts Netherlands as Eoin Morgan’s men created a world record ODI, and List-A, score of 498/4.

They broke their own previous record of 481 for 6, made against Australia from 2018. This is also now the highest total ever in the history of all List A cricket surpassing 496/4 by Surrey against Gloucestershire at the Oval in 2007. England now occupy the top three positions for highest innings totals in ODIs, the third one being 444/3 vs Pakistan in Nottingham in 2016.

Three England batters – Jos Buttler (162* of 70 balls), Dawid Malan (125 off 109) and Phil Salt (122 off 93) – registered hundreds while Liam Livingstone smashed a 17-ball fifty, the fastest-ever by an Englishman in ODIs, and finished with 66* off 22 balls, but England fell just two runs short of the 500-run mark. To think: This was after Netherlands skipper Pieter Seelaar won the toss and elected to bowl first!

14 of those 26 sixes came from the bat of Jos Buttler alone; 6 from Livingstone while three each from Malan and Salt.

Netherlands players send for ball-searching by Malan’s huge six

While Malan and Salt, during their 222-run stand were laying the platform, one of Malan’s sixes went out of the playing arena and into the green, dense bushes outside the boundary line.

Along with the security and ground staff, a couple of Netherlands fielders too came out of the ground to search for the ball in the greneery making it for a really funny scene.

The video of this ball-searching by the Dutch players is hilarious and the same has gone viral on social media with plenty of laughs can be hear among those people. This also brought back some childhood memories among the fans.
