After a six-month hiatus because of injury, Deepak Chahar has made a solid comeback to international cricketer with a Player of the Match performance in the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare. Chahar picked up a three-wickets for 27 with all of his wickets coming inside the powerplay that broke the top-order of Zimbabwe.

While the Indian fans went berserk with the performance of Deepak Chahar, on the other hand, he would be more pleased with the kind of impression he created on the locals at Harare. Yes, his performance earned him some instant fan-following in Harare.

From the local journalists and groundstaff to security personnel, everyone wanted a glimpse of Deepak Chahar. In fact, after the match, a Zimbabwe cricketer’s family members took turns clicking photos with the India pacer.

Well, a video uploaded by journalist Vimal Kumar has gone insanely viral on social media, where the female fans can be seen asking for Chahar’s permission before taking a selfie. “Can I touch you?” one of them asked before putting her arms around him. “We are very happy, he was so humble and cute,” another one said when asked about their interaction with Chahar.

Watch the viral video, here:

Following India’s 10-wicket win, Deepak Chahar talked about his performance and by his own admission, he started where he left off as he finished with a spell of 3 for 27 in 7 overs. He said:

“That [World Cup selection] is not in my hands. Skill-wise, though, I have worked really hard,”

He added: “There I can say I have probably started where I had left off. After the first over [when I had the run-up issue], rest whatever I bowled, I was happy. It was a seven-over spell, so the fitness is good.”

Chahar revealed that the plan was to bowl fuller-length deliveries. He said:

“My plan remains simple when the ball is swinging try to bowl fuller length and take wickets. If the ball isn’t swinging, then there is a plan ‘B’ or ‘C’. Today, it was swinging till the seventh over that I was bowling. So it was simple — bowl a fuller length and mix the swing and confuse the batter,”
